World Down Syndrome Day 2025

World Down Syndrome Day 2025 – Down Syndrome International

The 21st March 2025 is World Down Syndrome Day which is all about raising awareness and celebrating people with Down Syndrome and their families. The 21st day of March (the 3rd month of the year) was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.

The theme for 2025 is a call to all governments to Improve Our Support Systems. People with Down syndrome need support to live and be included in the community, like everyone else. Families also need support, as they are often supporting their family member with Down syndrome. Support is a key human right that helps make other rights possible. The support that we need is different for each person.

Lots of Socks Campaign

Believe it or not, socks get people talking!

On 21 March, choose some socks that are going to get noticed! They might be mismatched socks or your boldest and most colourful socks, whatever takes your fancy! The idea is to start a conversation, so when people ask you about your socks, you can tell them, “I’m wearing them to raise awareness of Down syndrome”.
